Celebrate Summer With A Night Out In Neighborhood Parks

NORWOOD PARK — A series of events in Far Northwest Side parks will help residents endure the dog days of summer.

Events taking place at Far Northwest Side parks through the end of July include:

Perfect Your Half Moon Pose: A yoga class will take place under the stars from 7:15-8:15 p.m. Wednesday at Norwood Circle Park, 7117 W. Peterson Ave.

Get Your Groove On: Dance in the Parks, a professional dance company, will perform an all-ages show of modern, jazz, contemporary, and tap works created and performed by Chicago artists from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Portage Park, 4100 N. Long Ave.

Sense of Humor Required: Barrel of Monkeys will perform "That's Weird, Grandma" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Edison Park, 6755 N. Northwest Highway. The variety show features short plays written by third, fourth and fifth grade students and performed by professional actors.

Once Upon A Time: "The Princess, Minstrel & Rabid Bat," a new folk tale that combines live music, swordplay and magic, spins an enchanting hour of theater out of a summer night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Roberts Square Park, 5200 W. Argyle St.

Sit Back And Enjoy the Show: A performance by the Urban Gateways touring company designed to expose young people and families to diverse cultural and artistic experiences will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Chopin Park, 3420 N. Long Ave.

The Show Must Go On: A performance by the Urban Gateways touring company designed expose young people and families to diverse cultural and artistic experiences will take place from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Aug. 9 at Wildwood Park, 6950 N. Hiawatha Ave.

The Tiniest Show On Earth: Acme Flea Circus, featuring trained fleas Midge and Madge under the direction of Professor Gertsacov, will bring an authentic Victorian flea circus to life from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at Oriole Park, 5430 N. Olcott Ave.

Once More With Feeling: A performance by the Urban Gateways touring company designed expose young people and families to diverse cultural and artistic experiences will take place from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Aug. 10 at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.

Big Wheel Keeps On Turning: Attendees can take a spin on Cirques Experience's Gymnastics Wheel, which promises fun and fitness for all ages from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Aug. 10 at at Oriole Park, 5430 N. Olcott Ave.

Put On Your Dancing Shoes: A performance by the Urban Gateways touring company designed expose young people and families to diverse cultural and artistic experiences will take place from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Aug. 10 at Norwood Circle Park, 7117 W. Peterson Ave.

Practice Your Warrior 2 Pose: A yoga class will take place under the stars from 7:15-8:15 p.m. Aug. 10 at Norwood Circle Park, 7117 W. Peterson Ave.

Weirder, Theater: Artists from the family-friendly portion of the Chicago Fringe Festival will offer a craft lesson, workshop and performance from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at Wilson Park, 4630 N. Milwaukee Ave.

He Was This Big, Mom: A show from Nature Performs thats uses the park to illuminate the beauty of nature through dance, theater, poetry and music will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at Sauganash Park, 5861 N. Kostner Ave.

Get Moving: DJ Mike P will get the crowd jumping from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 12 at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.

Lift The Curtain: Free Street's 100 Hauntings will offer attendees a fun and spooky campfire experience from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at Merrimac Park, 6343 W. Irving Park Road.
