Auburn Gresham Shooting Kills Jonathan Lane, 23, Wounds Another, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Auburn Gresham left one man dead and another seriously wounded on Thursday night, police said.

At 10:15 p.m., the men were standing on the street in the 7700 block of South Loomis Street when a white van pulled up and someone got out and fired shots, police said. The shooter got into the van and drove off.

A 23-year-old man was shot in his head and a 25-year-old man was hit in his stomach. They were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

The 23-year-old man later died of his injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was identified as Jonathan Lane, of the 7800 block of South Ada Street.

No one was in custody.
