'Empire' Filming Set For The Gold Coast

GOLD COAST — Fox's "Empire" is coming to the Gold Coast this week, along with accompanying street closures. 

Filming for the hit night drama will close street parking at the following locations, according to Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd):

• West side of Dearborn Street from Schiller Street to 1330 N. Dearborn until 6 p.m. Friday.

• Both sides of Clark Street from Schiller to Goethe Street and the east side of Clark from Goethe to Division Street till 10 p.m. Thursday.

• Both sides of Dearborn, from 1430 N. Dearborn to 1330 N. Dearborn, till from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.

• Both sides of Germania Place from Clark to Sandburg Terrace and the east side of Sandburg Terrace from Germania to North Avenue from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.

• Southbound Dearborn from Schiller to roughly Goethe may be closed entirely to traffic intermittently from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. The city will maintain two-way traffic in the northbound lanes, Hopkins said. 

Set in New York but filmed in Chicago, "Empire" focuses on the drama between a music mogul and his family. The show's third season will premiere Sept. 21 on Fox.
