FULLER PARK — Chicago Police welcome folks living in the Deering District to "National Night Out."

Set for Aug. 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fuller Park, 341 W. 45th St., the country-wide event will bring local authorities, leaders and citizens together to talk about crime and keeping the neighborhood safe.

Deering District Police Cmdr. Daniel Godsel and Ald. Patrick D. Thompson (11th) will speak about the state of public safety in the neighborhood.

Chicago Police will offer information on identity theft, domestic violence, school safety, senior services and neighborhood CAPS programs.

There will be refreshments, music, games, face paining and dancing.

National Night Out "is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live," according to organizers of the nationwide event.
