BACK OF THE YARDS — The Plant — the neighborhood’s non-profit urban farming lab — will soon host its fifth annual Closed Loop Food Fest.

Previously known as the “Monster Food Truck Rally,” the festival will run from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at 1400 W. 46th St., where you’ll find food, live music and discounted tours of The Plant’s indoor farm and food incubator.

Confirmed food vendors include Whiner Beer, Bruges Brothers, Pleasant House Bakery, Ste. Martaen, Corner Farmacy and Cevapcici Chicago.

Plant Chicago staffers will teach mini workshops on composting, aquaponics and mycology, the study of fungi.

A live music lineup will feature SolarBeatz, Sandra Antongiorgi, Holy Cross Marimba Ensemble, The Matthew Skoller Duo and more.

Buy tickets online here.

A $10 donation will get you in the door with one drink ticket and access to food vendors, music and workshops. A $15 donation adds a half-hour tour.

All proceeds will support The Plant's many programs on education, farming and technology.
