JEFFERSON PARK — Members of the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department will rock — and rumble — to raise money for two charities that help the families of fallen officers and firefighters.

Proceeds from the fourth annual Rock the Badges concert will benefit the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and Ignite the Spirit, two charities that help the families of officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.

The first three Rock the Badges events raised more than $40,000 for the charities, organizers said.

For the first time, the event will start with a 70-mile motorcycle ride sponsored by Iron Justice Motorcycle Club.

Registration for the two-hour ride will start at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave. Tickets for the ride, which will start at noon, are $20 for riders and $15 for passengers, organizers said.

Tickets for the festival are $5 in advance or $10 at the door.

The festival, which runs from noon to 11 p.m., will feature eight bands with at least one member in the Police Department or Fire Department. The bands will not battle for bragging rights, as in years past, organizers said.

The event will also feature a beer garden with 30 craft beers. One drink is included with each festival ticket, organizers said.

Food trucks will also be on hand, and there will be activities fo kids, including face painting and a bounce house, organizers said.
