CHICAGO — After heavy rain and storms across the area Saturday, the Chicago Park District has issued a swim ban Sunday at all beaches.
Due to heavy rain, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District opened locks at Wilmette and the Chicago River, the Chicago Park District said in a statement.
When this happens, a swim ban goes into effect at all beaches until test results show low levels of bacteria.
Beaches are still open for use, even though swimming is banned.
