BUCKTOWN — Starting Aug. 2, visitors to the 606's Churchill and Walsh parks can buy frozen versions of chef Mindy Segal's hot chocolate out of an "IceTrike" on nights and weekends.

Also, Segal can sell her fudgesicles on the elevated Bloomingdale Trail, too, but only east of Churchill Park, according to Chicago Park District spokeswoman Michele Lemons.

Lemons said that Segal applied for the license last fall and so far she is the only vendor who's applied for selling food in any park connected to the 606.

Lemons said the license will allow Segal to sell on the trail through the end of October.

Segal's famed Mindy's Hot Chocolate restaurant, at 1747 N. Damen Ave., is just south of the trail's entry point at Churchill Park, 1805 N. Damen Ave.

"Mindy is a big fan of the 606 and likes to walk it in the evenings," a spokeswoman for Segal said.

A James Beard Award-winning pastry chef, Segal's custom-made IceTrike combines her "passion for making sweet treats with her love of her neighborhood," the spokeswoman said.

Segal's mobile dessert trike will sell gourmet fudgesicles using local, seasonal ingredients with flavors that include Klug Farms strawberries & cream, milk chocolate malted and peanut butter & jam.

The fudgesicles will cost $4 each. Fans can find out where the “IceTrike” will be each day by following Hot Chocolate on Twitter at @MindySegal.
