DOWNTOWN — Students will see some new faces next year at Ogden International School.

The K-12 school has tapped two new assistant principals to lead each of its campuses next school year after the recent departures of three heads of school.

Cara Kranz will lead Ogden's K-5 campus in the Gold Coast, 24 W. Walton St., while Stacie Chana will take over Ogden's west campus, 1250 W. Erie St., Principal Michael Beyer said in an email to parents Monday.

The school will introduce Chana and Kranz to parents at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Ogden's east campus cafeteria, Beyer said.

Kranz comes to Ogden from the Chicago Board of Education, where since November 2011 she has served as deputy chief of staff. In that role Kranz said she "oversaw operations" of monthly board meetings, redesigned the board's website, and supported Chicago Public Schools leadership "in all endeavors."

Before then, Kranz was a teacher and interim assistant principal at Chappell Elementary in Lincoln Square, according to her resumé.

"While I have always felt honored to support leadership at the district level, my heart has been where students are," Kranz wrote to parents Monday.

Chana since July 2014 has been an interim principal at the Academy of Urban School Leadership, and was a resident principal at Kenwood Academy and science department chairwoman at Crane High School before that, according to her resumé.

"I believe it is my duty to aide in empowering our children to become skilled, responsible and reflective citizens, preparing them to succeed in our global society," Chana wrote to parents Monday.

The new hires will replace Ogden's previous heads of school, who all left for new CPS jobs this year. Karen Valentine, Ogden's head of elementary school, was named principal of Edison Regional Gifted Center in April. Erica Kittle, Ogden's former head of middle school, in now interim principal of Drummond Montessori School in Bucktown.

And Paul Karafiol, Ogden's head of high school, was named interim principal of Lake View High School late last month.

"When a Lake View [Local School Council] member asked why I wanted to leave Ogden, I said candidly that I didn't — but I also know that this opportunity is one that I can't afford to pass up," Karafiol wrote to Ogden parents last month. Kittle and Valentine could not be reached for comment.

Beyer said Ogden will have just two assistant principals — one for each campus — down from three last year due to budget cuts. Ogden's Local School Council will host a special meeting on next year's budget at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the east campus cafeteria.
