Englewood Shooting Kills Chureno Gatewood, 18, Police Say

CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man was shot to death in Englewood early Sunday, according to police.

The man was found in the 5700 block of South Union Avenue at 11:25 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to his chest, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was brought to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead, Lemmon said.

The man has been identified as Chureno Gatewood of Gary, Ind., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Gatewood was a documented gang member, according to police.
