DOWNTOWN — A four-floor penthouse with awesome views of Millennium Park is on the market for $6 million.
The 6,400-square-foot condominium crowns the Montgomery Ward Tower, 6 N. Michigan Ave., a 19th-century high-rise that once was the tallest building in Chicago. The four-bedroom penthouse, which hit the market Thursday night, includes four-and-a-half bathrooms, elegant vintage finishes, a wraparound terrace and two rooftop decks overlooking Millennium Park, according to the listing.
The condo occupies the former observatory in the onetime headquarters of mail-order conglomerate Montgomery Ward & Co.
A developer acquired the 22-story tower near the turn of the century and began converting it to condos. The penthouse sold for $3.9 million in 2014, according to the multiple listing service. The penthouse's current owner could not be determined.
The four-floor unit pays $6,200 in monthly assessments and paid $17,374 in property taxes in 2013, according to the listing. The sale is being handled by Philip Skowron of @properties.
