CHICAGO — A shooting Wednesday night in West Pullman left a 32-year-old man dead, police said.

At 8:30 p.m., Anthony Thomas was walking in the 12100 block of South Throop Street when someone fired shots at him, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. Thomas was hit in the face and head.

Thomas was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

Thomas, of Orange, Texas, was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

Thomas was a documented gang member, police said, and the shooting might be gang-related.

No one was in custody.
