DOWNTOWN — Two Columbia College students were robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday after sharing some "private time" in Grant Park, police and the school said.

The students were near Logan Monument in the Downtown park just after midnight Tuesday when the suspects approached and asked for cigarettes, according to a campus alert sent by the college.

The suspects returned a few minutes later, showed a handgun, and took the victims' belongings and fled northbound along the Metra tracks near the park, the school said.

A police source said the students were sharing some "private time" before the robbery.

The suspects are described as a 5-foot-10, 160 pound black man between 25 and 30 years old wearing dark denim jeans, and a 5-foot-6, 120 pound black woman around the same age who was wearing blue capri jeans and a multicolored tank top.

Anyone with information related is asked to call police at 312-747-8384.
