CHICAGO — Six people were shot in Englewood late Tuesday, five of them within the same 40-minute stretch, police said. Two men died of their wounds.

• Most recently, around 10:50 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 6000 block of South Carpenter Street, where they found two men sitting unresponsive in a gray sedan with gunshot wounds in their heads, according to a police incident report.

Both men were pronounced dead on scene, police said.

One of the men was identified as Rodney Wayne Phillips Orr, 34, of the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Orr was pronounced dead at 11:04 p.m. and an autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

Orr was a documented gang member, police said.

The other man was identified as Daniel Watkins, 28, of the 7800 block of South Eberhart, in Medical Examiner's Office records. An autopsy showed Watkins died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

• At 10:22 p.m., a 23-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of West Marquette Road when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The man was brought to St. Bernard's Hospital with a gunshot wound in his back, police said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• At 10:10 p.m., a 17-year-old and a 30-year-old man were driving southbound in the 7200 block of South May Street when someone shot at their car from the sidewalk, police said.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital after being shot in his neck, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound in his back and a graze wound in his face, police said.

Police said both people were "stable."

• Earlier, around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 29-year-old woman got into an argument with another woman in the 6700 block of South Ashland Avenue when the other woman pulled out a gun and shot her before fleeing in a car, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The woman went to the Englewood District police station, where she received medical attention for gunshot wounds in her neck and wrist, Sweeney said. She was then brought to Stroger Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
