PORTAGE PARK — Some residents of Portage Park and Dunning will get their trash and recyclables picked up on a new schedule, Ald. Nicholas Sposato (38th) said.

Most of the home residents in the area bordered by Addison Street on the south, Gunnison Street on the north, Oak Park Avenue on the west, and Laramie Avenue on the east will now have their garbage picked up on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sposato said.

Most homes west of Marmora Avenue will get their garbage hauled away on Tuesdays, while most homes east of Marmora Avenue will get their trash picked up Wednesday, Sposato said.

The changes will go into effect July 18, Sposato said.

Homes that put their blue recycling carts out front on the curb will have their recycling hauled away on the same day as their garbage collection, Sposato said.

However, homes whose recycling carts are picked up in the alley should leave their blue carts in the alley during the entire service week to ensure collection, Sposato said.
