Austin Shooting Kills Leandre Winford II, Wounds 2 Others, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Austin left one man dead and two other people wounded on Friday night, police said.

At 11:40 p.m., the three were standing on the sidewalk in the 500 block of North Lavergne Avenue when shots were fired at them, police said.

A 59-year-old man was hit in his right arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The victim was was identified as Leandre Winford II, of Broadview, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Winford was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m.

A 32-year-old man was hit in his left arm and leg and a 17-year-old was hit in his left leg. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were not released but they were listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody.
