CHICAGO — After nearly four years of serving the Wicker Park area late-night sandwiches and beer, Lucky's Sandwich Co. will close its doors later this month.

The Pittsburgh-style sandwich shop and sports bar, which rose to local fame after appearing on "Man v. Food," will be taken over by a new restaurant and bar, the new spot's publicist announced in a press release.

Lincoln Park's Compass Bar co-owner Patrick Wrona has purchased the restaurant and plans to open The Tankard, which will offer "a well-curated wine list, elevated menu and comprehensive beer selection," according to the press release.

Wrona is partnering with restaurateurs Philicia Mizell and Rob Colon, whom he met while working for the Boka Restaurant Group. The ownership team boasts over 30 years of combined experience at acclaimed restaurants such as Celeste, Cinghiale and the Michelin Star-awarded Boka.

The Wrigleyville Lucky's location won't be affected by the Wicker Park shop's closing.

Lucky's Sandwich Co's last day will be on July 25.

Another Lucky's location, Lucky's on Maxwell in University Village, closed for good in December 2015.
