Three Armed Robberies On Far NW Side Trigger Police Alert

PORTAGE PARK — Portage Park and Belmont Cragin residents should be on alert after three early morning robberies in two days, police said.

In each incident, a man approached the victim, displayed a handgun and demanded money and property, police said.

The incidents happened in the:

• 4800 block of west School Street at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday

• 5800 block of west Belmont Avenue at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday

• 5700 block of west Wellington Avenue at 4:36 a.m. Wednesday.

Police are looking for a white or Hispanic man between 20 and 40 years old between 5-feet 8-inches and 6-feet tall, weighing between 140 and 180 pounds in connection with these incidents.
