CHICAGO — Some parts of the city could get more than 1 inch of rain during storms Thursday night.

The storm, which is expected to hit at 10 p.m. and last until 2 or 3 a.m. Friday, will be severe in some parts of the city but but weak in other areas, said AccuWeather meteorologist Paul Walker.

“There could be some pretty good storms around the city,” Walker said. “I don’t think it will be widespread severe … .”

The rain is expected to be accompanied by thunder, hail and 50-60 mph wind gusts in some areas, Walker said.

The heavy rain comes after Chicago has already gotten hit with strong storms this week. But the rest of the week looks dry, Walker said, and the weekend isn't expected to see rain.

“I think we’re going into a dry period here. I don’t think we’ll have anything tomorrow or Saturday or even Sunday at this point,” Walker said. “Maybe something early next week.”
