UPTOWN — A quick service restaurant offering Hawaiian staple poke and sushi bowls is headed to Wilson Avenue this summer.

Pokiology will open at 4600 N. Magnolia Ave., Suite C, next door to the new home of Baker and Nosh, according to Uptown Update, which first reported the opening.

The concept for the restaurant comes from similar businesses in California, said owner Mark Nguyen, who moved from California to Rogers Park about a year ago to partner with his brother to run Angry Crab, 5665 N. Lincoln Ave.

Nguyen hopes to draw crowds from Truman College and picked the location after "seeing the development and wanting to be a part of it."

The restaurant will feature a Chipotle-style line and having seating for 16 to 20 people. Meals will range from $10 for its regular portion to $16 for its large portion, he said.

Meals will feature rice and salad topped with a protein such as tuna, salmon or shrimp.

Cedar Street, who owns the space, said it like the concept of fast, healthy casual food and were fans of Angry Crab.

"They have a track record of success in Lincoln Square," said Managing Partner Mark Heffron adding "improving the pedestrian foot traffic in the near term is a priority for the company."

The restaurant is expected to open between July 12 and 18, Nguyen said.
