PORTAGE PARK — The sounds of New Orleans will fill the Filament Theatre this month.

Alexis and the Samurai, a duo from the Big Easy, are scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. July 18 at the Filament Theatre, 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Made up of Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft, the band is promoting its most recent album "Move Into View."

Marceaux performed on season three of NBC's "The Voice."

Tickets are $10.

New Orleans piano player Josh Paxton is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. July 26 at the Filament Theatre.

Following Paxton's performance, the film "Bayou Maharajah," which explores the life and music of New Orleans piano legend James Booker will be shown.

The film depicts Booker as a brilliant but eccentric pianist who struggled to overcome prejudice and isolation, organizers said.
