CHICAGO — A 17-year-old girl was one of two people shot in separate attacks in Back of the Yards Tuesday night, according to police.

The attacks, both gang-related, happened within a half hour of each other Tuesday night, police said.

The girl was walking southbound in the 4500 block of South Hermitage Avenue at 11:05 p.m. when a green minivan pulled up and someone inside began firing, police said.

She was struck in her right leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was not released but police said she was stable.

The shooting is considered to be gang related, according to police.

A half hour later, at 11:35 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards.

The man was standing outside in the 4800 block of South Winchester Avenue when someone standing near the corner of 49th Street and Winchester Avenue fired in his direction, police said.

He was shot in his left leg and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

No arrests have been made in either incident.
