CHICAGO — Two separate shooting incidents wounded a 24-year-old man and a 32-year-old man in West Town on Monday, according to police.

The neighborhood's first shooting came at 7:16 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Mozart Street, police said. A 32-year-old man was standing outside when someone in a passing car fired at him, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman..

He was struck in his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, Sweeney said.

The shooting victim is a documented gang member, police said.

About 9 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the 1800 block of West Erie Street, Sweeney said.

He was on the sidewalk when someone rode up on a bike and got off to fire shots before riding off, Sweeney said. The man was struck in his chest and was taken to an area hospital where he was in critical condition, he said.

He is considered to be a documented gang member, according to police.
