South Chicago Shooting Kills Laron McCoy, 25, Police Say

CHICAGO — Laron McCoy, 25, was shot to death in South Chicago on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

At 1:07 p.m., McCoy was in the 8100 block of South Burnham Avenue when he was shot in his head, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago Police spokesman.

McCoy was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Quaid said.

McCoy, of the 9700 block of South Luella, was identified in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

McCoy was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
