Humboldt Park Shooting Kills Mecahel Holder, 34, Wounds 2 Women, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 34-year-old man was killed and a 29-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman were wounded in a Humboldt Park shooting early Tuesday, according to police.

The man was outside in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway Avenue at 1:35 a.m. talking with the two women who were seated in a parked car, police said.

The man then began arguing with two men who were on the street, police said. One of those men opened fire, they said.

The 34-year-old man was shot in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

He has been identified as Mecahel Holder, of the 2100 block of West 50th Place, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Holder was pronounced dead at 1:44 a.m., according to the office.

The 29-year-old woman was shot in her right leg, knee and shoulder and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said. The 31-year-old woman was shot in the right hand and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

No arrests have been made in the case.
