GOLD COAST — Two men robbed an elderly couple at gunpoint in the Gold Coast on Tuesday morning — but were quickly nabbed.

The robbery occurred at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday in the first block of East Delaware Place, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Police took two men into custody shortly after meeting the elderly victims, and also recovered a weapon, Quaid said.

Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) reported two armed robberies Tuesday morning: the one at 57 E. Delaware Place and another at 1000 N. Lake Shore Drive. Police recovered a handgun after a foot chase, Reilly said in an email to constituents Tuesday evening.

Other details of the robbery of the elderly couple were not made available. Charges were still pending Tuesday afternoon, Quaid said.
