CHICAGO — A shooting in Englewood left a 34-year-old man dead early Friday near Stagg Elementary School, police said.
At 6:20 a.m., police found the man, shot three times in his head and once in his right wrist, in the 7400 block of South Morgan, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Amezaga said.
The man was identified as Kenneth D. Whitaker, of the 7400 block of South Morgan, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Whitaker was pronounced dead at 6:08 a.m.
Police said they think the shooting happened about 4 a.m.
No one was in custody.
