UPTOWN — Hoping to build off the "momentum" from last week's meeting, the Wilson "L" Public Space Committee will host a Volunteer Group Focus Meeting for the Wilson Underline Project Thursday evening.

At 6:30 p.m., the group will meet at The Institute of Cultural Affairs, 4750 N. Sheridan Road, to create focus groups based on interests and skills and discuss the next move, according to a news release for the event.

"Bring your talents, abilities and ideas to share with the group as we move full steam ahead as a community to bring this proposal to life," the release said.

The Wilson "L" Public Space Committee effort aims to change the plans for what will go under Wilson Red Line station once its renovation is complete.

Though original plans call for fenced-in parking lots under the station, underline project members want to turn some of that land into "people space" to be enjoyed by all residents. The project still would include the contractually obligated number of parking spaces, organizers said.

In March, the CTA said it was working with Uptown United, a partner with the Wilson Underline Committee, on several ideas for redevelopment and ways to incorporate key neighborhood suggestions into the station, but the conversation has been stagnate since.
