Workshops To Offer Students A Jump Start On Applying To College

NORWOOD PARK — Summer might be in full swing, but a series of workshops at Taft High School will offer students a chance to get a head start on the college application process.

Open not just to Taft students but any student who will be a freshman in high school in the fall, the College Camp led by the Taft High School counseling department is designed to provide students with an action plan to find the right college while navigating high school.

College Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to noon July 12-13 or from 9 a.m. to noon July 14-15 at Taft, 6530 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.

The cost is $65 and online registration is available.

Topics to be covered include high school course selection, after-school activities, scholarship searches and college planning, organizers said.

Rising seniors looking to get a jump start on their college applications can attend a workshop set for 9 a.m. to noon July 26-27 or from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 2-3 at Taft.

Topics to be covered include admission essays, how to apply for financial aid and how to find the right college, organizers said.

The cost is $65 and registration is available at tafths.org.
