LOGAN SQUARE — A former church that has been converted into a home hit the market in Logan Square late last week for $1.2 million.
The unique building with its arching ceilings and open floor plan was originally constructed in 1888.
The church was once the Hungarian Catholic Church of St. Emeric and later became the St. Gedwig Mission Church in 1939.
The 5,500-square-foot house, 2445 N. Washtenaw Ave., contains two bedrooms and four bathrooms plus a number of unique spaces throughout the home, including a studio.
The living room with a working fireplace is located in what appears to be a former chapel with religious paintings covering the ceiling.
The house also includes a two-car garage and spacious deck and is set on two-and-a-half city lots.
