LAKEVIEW — Chicago rapper Vic Mensa debuted live his new single, "Free Love," which shows support of the LGBTQ community during Queen! Sunday at SmartBar.

Chicago drag performer Lucy Stoole introduced Mensa before Derrick Carter's headlining set, as the rapper climbed on the DJ booth to perform the track that was released earlier that night.

"Free Love" features a variety of LGBTQ performers and allies, including Le1f, Halsey, Lil B and Chicago artist Malik Yusef.

Mensa wrote a letter when he released the track Sunday, where he opened up about how a member of his family revealed identifying as queer this year, and although it made him uncomfortable at first, he realized "we have to be removed from our comfort zone to be able to grow."

He added that he "couldn't feel indifferent about something that was so important to people I love."

Mensa also performed "New Bae" off his latest EP, "There's Alot Going On" and wrapped up the performance with his House-inspired track, "Down On My Luck."
