This Photobomber Is About To Rob This Engagement Video's Crew, Police Say

By David Matthews | June 27, 2016 9:48am | Updated on June 27, 2016 3:49pm

DOWNTOWN — An engagement photo shoot at Trump Tower in Chicago went terribly wrong when a man photobombed the photos — and then mugged and robbed the videographer, police said.

The mugger didn't snatch a separate photographer's camera — and that one captured a photo of the man as he approached the unwitting crew, police said.

That picture is now being distributed by Chicago Police in an effort to catch him.

"It's still kind of shocking," said Yasmeen Haleem, who was filming the engagement video. "I don't know anyone personally this has happened to before."

It happened at 6:45 p.m. June 21 outside Trump International Hotel & Tower at 401 N. Wabash.

Haleem, 26, of Orland Park, was behind the video camera, shooting the video with the bride-to-be posing along a railing.

After approaching from behind the bride-to-be, the thief pushed Haleem to the ground, grabbed her $3,000 video camera and tripod and took off, she said.

She ended bruised from the fall — and intent on recovering the lost footage on the camera. She had several assignments on it, including footage meant to promote organ donation from the 2016 Transplant Games in Cleveland.

"I'm doing OK," said Monday. "It could have been a lot worse."

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 312-747-8380.
