SOUTH SHORE — Former Destiny’s Child member and Grammy-award-winning singer Michelle Williams will be giving out free business advice at a small business expo in South Shore on Saturday.
Williams is the keynote speaker at the Small Business Expo by the city’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive.
The expo will also feature free tax and legal clinics, and workshops on business communications and finding access to credit and capital.
“This expo series is part of Mayor [Rahm] Emanuel’s commitment to supporting Chicago’s neighborhood businesses by bringing every helpful resource we have or know of straight to them,” said Commissioner Maria Guerra Lapacek. “It will have something for all kinds of businesses and we encourage everyone to swing by and see what we have to offer.”
The free business expo is part of a series being put on by the city, with the next ones coming up on Sept. 10 at Columbus Park Refectory and Oct. 29 at the Copernicus Center.
