CHICAGO — A shooting in Englewood left one man dead and another wounded on Thursday night, police said.

At 10:30 p.m., the two men were on the street in the 6400 block of South Damen Avenue when a man walked up and fired shots, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 28-year-old man was hit in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Eric Burgin, of the same block.

A 38-year-old man was hit in his leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Lemmon said.

The men were documented gang members, police said.
