Celebrate Summer — Officially — By Spending A Night In A Park

NORWOOD PARK — A series of events in Far Northwest Side parks will give residents a chance to celebrate the official start of summer.

Events that will take place at Far Northwest Side parks through the end of July include:

Perfect Your Warrior Two Pose: A yoga class will take place under the stars from 7:15-8:15 p.m. July 6, July 13 July 20 and July 27 at Norwood Circle Park, 7117 W. Peterson Ave.

Tap Your Toes: The Mixed Company band will play soul, rhythm and blues, smooth jazz, Latin jazz, funk, blues and reggae for a family-friendly concert filled with both old and new songs from 6-7:30 p.m. July 13 at Rosedale Park, 6312 W. Rosedale Ave.

Get Moving: DJ Rae Chardonnay will get the crowd jumping from 6-8 p.m. July 15 at Jefferson Memorial Park, 4822 N. Long Ave., and from 6-8 p.m. July 22 at Shabbona Park, 6935 W. Addison St.

Put On Your Dancing Shoes: Dance in the Parks, a professional dance company, will perform an all-ages show of modern, jazz, contemporary, and tap works created and performed by Chicago artists from 6:30-7:30 p.m. July 15 at Wilson Park, 4630 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Sing The Blues: Ramblin' Rose and the Ramblers will perform blues and rhythm and blues at a concert set for 4-6 p.m. July 16 at Norwood Park, 5801 N. Natoma Ave.

Sit Back And Enjoy the Show: A performance by the Urban Gateways touring company designed expose young people and families to diverse cultural and artistic experiences will take place from 5:45-6:30 p.m. July 18 at Roberts Square Park, 5200 W. Argyle St.

For Those About To Rock: Young musicians studying at Lakeview's School of Rock will bring the noise from 6-7:30 p.m. July 27 at Oriole Park, 5430 N. Olcott Ave.

Once Upon A Time: Tales from Around the World will feature folk stories from around the world in an effort to teach tolerance and cultural appreciation through an interactive performance from 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 29 at Olympia Park, 6566 N. Avondale Ave.

Bold Strokes: An art gallery will feature projects completed by park district art students of all ages from 5-6:30 p.m. July 30 at Wilson Park, 4630 N. Milwaukee Ave.
