DALEY CENTER — Double Door's fight to stay in its longtime Milwaukee Avenue location continues, as lawyers for the rock club and its landlord continued their court case Wednesday despite a judge's efforts to move the case along.

The legendary Wicker Park rock club is facing eviction after the building's landlord, Brian Strauss, said club owners failed to properly exercise an extension clause in their lease. Sean Mulroney, the club's owner, has said the landlord is using the legal system to try to improperly evict a tenant.

A court case over the matter began May 18, but squabbles over Mulroney's affirmative defense motion have twice stalled the case. On Wednesday, Judge Orville Hambright Jr. settled the procedural issues and told the parties they would have one more court appearance to make their case before he rules.

Hambright said he had hoped to see the parties settle the manner themselves.

"You come together, grit your teeth, do whatever you need to do to get it done. Unfortunately, that didn't happen," he said. "Both of you have put it in my hands."

The case is scheduled to continue on June 29.
