Garfield Park Shooting Kills Latrell McMahon, Wounds 1 Man, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Garfield Park left 18-year-old Latrell McMahon dead and a 19-year-old man wounded early Saturday, police said.

At 1:30 a.m., the men were in a car in the 0-100 block of South Springfield Avenue when shots were fired and they were hit, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

McMahon, of the 1800 block of South Fairfield, was hit in his abdomen, Trainor said. He was pronounced dead at 1:56 a.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

The 19-year-old man was hit in his right leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Trainor said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
