CHICAGO — A shooting in Austin left a 23-year-old man dead on Saturday morning, police said.
At 6:30 a.m., the man was in the 4800 block of West Monroe Street when he was shot multiple times in his head and body, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
Officers were responding to a call of shots fired and a person shot when they found the man's body, Trainor said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Eric Smith, of the same block.
No one was in custody in the shooting.
