WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A 17-year-old was found dead with a gunshot wound in his chest on the Far South Side Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 4 p.m., officers found the teen unconscious inside a residence in the 10200 block of South Normal Avenue, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The teen was pronounced dead on the scene, Lemmon said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the teen as Darryl Ferguson, of the same block. He died of a gunshot wound in his back in a homicide, an autopsy showed.
