BACK OF THE YARDS — A 22-year-old man died after being shot in his head on the South Side Tuesday evening, police said.
Around 7 p.m., the man was standing in a gangway in the 4800 block of South Laflin Street when another man jumped out of a gray sedan and shot at him before fleeing, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man was pronounced dead on scene, Lemmon said.
Police said the victim is a documented gang member and a convicted felon.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Steven Edwards, of the same block.
No one is in custody, Lemmon said.
