RIVER NORTH — Here's what the newest River North hotel might look like.

Michigan-based developer Porritt Group has shared a rendering of the 18-story, 199-room hotel it wants to build at LaSalle and Hubbard streets in advance of a neighborhood meeting next week hosted by Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd).

The new tower from Troy, Mich.-based Porritt would also include a rooftop pool and a ground-floor restaurant, according to the developer's website. Porritt filed a zoning application in March for the project, which would replace a parking lot at the northwest corner of the busy Downtown intersection.

Reilly, whose ward includes the development site, will host the meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 20 at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza River North, 350 W. Wolf Point Plaza.

The project was filed with the city because it requires City Council approval. If approved, the hotel would join the flurry of new hotels Downtown, including the LondonHouse at Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive and the 1,200-room Marriott Marquis underway near McCormick Place. The 10 hotels built Downtown last year represented the biggest hotel building boom here in 30 years, according to Crain's.

A Porritt representative did not return a message seeking comment.
