West Town Shooting Wounds 23-Year-Old Man, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in West Town left a 23-year-old man seriously wounded early Saturday, police said.

At 12:15 a.m., the man was on the street in the 1600 block of West Maypole Avenue when someone wearing orange-colored clothing fired shots at him, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in his neck and left leg, Lemmon said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
