South Chicago Shooting Kills Jeremy Ray, 27, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 27-year-old man was shot to death in South Chicago late Friday, police said.

At 9:30 p.m., the man was in the 8900 block of South Brandon Avenue when two men got out of a car and shot at him, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit multiple times throughout his body and was taken to Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lemmon said.

The man was identified as Jeremy H. Ray, of the 42nd block of West 112th Place, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Ray was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m.

The shooters drove off and no one was in custody, Lemmon said.

The victim was a documented gang member, police said.
