NORWOOD PARK — A weeklong series of workshops will give Far Northwest Side residents a chance to shape the future of Resurrection Medical Center, hospital officials said.

Efforts are underway to craft a new master plan for the 360-bed hospital owned by Presence Health at 7435 W. Talcott Ave., officials said.

That plan will detail efforts to redevelop the hospital's emergency room and "reimagine" the hospital's operating rooms while also increasing "accessibility to and around the medical campus," officials said.

Starting Monday, the "visioning event" which will consist of more than a dozen stakeholder meetings and open houses, officials said.

"I'm sure we'll all be able to learn a lot from our neighbors and community partners through this process," said Robert Dahl, president and CEO of Presence Resurrection Medical Center.

The kickoff event set to take place from 1-4 p.m. at the hospital will feature free food and give Far Northwest Side residents a chance "to provide direct input on the future of health care on Chicago's Northwest Side."

The effort will end with a closing event set to take place from 4-6 p.m. June 17 at the hospital. Officials will present the first draft of the master plan designed to detail "a shared vision for Presence Resurrection Medical Center and Northwest Chicago."

In March, Presence Health officials announced the 11-hospital firm lost $186 million in 2015, reported Crain's Chicago Business.

In 2014, the firm sold Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital in Portage Park to Community First Healthcare after losing money for three years in a row.
