UPTOWN — FLATS Chicago will celebrate the grand opening of The Lawrence House with a soiree featuring live music, free drinks, hors d'oeuvres and tours of the revamped property next Thursday.

From 5:30- 9 p.m., guests can get a preview the fully restored pool, gym, boxing ring, grand lobby, bar, roof deck, lounge and Heritage Outpost at the apartment complex at 1020 W. Lawrence Ave. The 21-and-over event will feature cocktails from KOVAL, Heritage Coffee and hors d'oeuvres from J&L, according to a website for the event.

The Lawrence House "has been a cornerstone of life since its construction in the early 20th century. Originally an upscale apartment hotel, this art deco building has been fully restored for the modern conveniences of today and we're excited to share it with you," the website said.

The event will feature artwork from Michael Rivera and CoEdit Collection, and music from DJ Greg #FEELGOOD and DJ Polyfonix.

At the party, FLATS will also announce the winner of its #FLATSProject, which chooses the small business that will fill its retail space. The project is "a Small Business and Community Accelerator Project" designed to give an entrepreneur the opportunity to kick-start their small business with more than $100,000 in benefits, which includes a year of free rent on the ground floor of one of FLATS buildings.

The finalist for the project include:

Stock Mfg. Co.: a clothing brand designed and manufactured in Chicago that makes "clothing for the guys that just want to look good, without spending all day thinking about it," according to its website.

Eric Shrospire Photography: Shrospire has 25 years of photography experience and his work includes people, portraits, fashion, photojournalism and lifestyle, according to his website.

Sit Social: A dog lounge featuring dog walking, pet sitting and pet grooming with a current location at 3902 N. Ashland Ave., according to its website.

Owen and Alchemy: "a chef-driven juice apothecary, crafting cold-pressed, plant-based juice, smoothies, nut milks and custom herbal blends," according to its website.

You can vote for your favorite project on the FLATS Facebook page.
