Garfield Park Shooting Kills Lanarris Webster, 34, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 34-year-old man was shot and killed in Garfield Park on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

At 1:40 p.m., the man was in the 3300 block of West Ohio Street when he was shot, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in the left side of his chest and was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Lanarris Webster, of the 3500 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m., the medical examiner said.

Webster was a documented gang member, police said.
