UPTOWN — The Illinois Department of Human Services is hoping to keep some of its offices "in the same region" after its Uptown office building was sold last year to real estate developer Cedar Street.

The building at 5060 N. Broadway, which was purchased for $1.6 million in April 2015, housed a group of social service providers including the Central Call Center, the Illinois Medicaid Redetermination Project, the Family and Community Resource Center and the Division of Rehab Services, according to Marianne Manko, Director of Communications for the Illinois Department of Human Services.

"[T]he population in this area must be served locally with ... so we are actively looking to for the best relocation area for these two offices in the same region," Manko said.

The Family and Resource Center has about 24,000 cases and the Division of Rehab Services offices has about 4,000 cases, she said

The Illinois Medicaid Redetermination Project, which uses electronic data to verify Medicaid eligibility in a timely manner, and the Central Call Center will be moving to suburban Homewood, hopefully, by the fall, she said.

Manko said they're hoping for "a seamless transition," though are hard deadline for the move out has not been scheduled.
