ROGERS PARK — Craving fresh, locally-produced foods but Glenwood Sunday Market closed for the day?

No problem — Loyola University's farmers market is here every Monday through Oct. 17.

Through Sept. 19, the market at 6550 N. Sheridan Road (just outside the Loyola Red Line station) is open from 3-7 p.m., then from 2:30-6:30 p.m. from Sept. 26-Oct. 17.

Now in its fifth season, the market launched in 2011 after students from Loyola's Solutions to Environmental Problems food course came up with the idea in 2009 while working on a class project.

Vendors at the market must grow or produce their own food, and money from sales goes back directly into the community.

The market accepts payment through Link cards, as well as senior discount coupons, food stamps and other benefits to "increase the access of healthy and locally grown and produced foods to the community," according to its website.
