PORTAGE PARK — Don't sleep on getting a new city vehicle sticker.
Drivers whose stickers expire July 1 can buy a new city vehicle sticker at events set to take place starting Wednesday at ward offices throughout the Far Northwest Side.
Drivers whose stickers expire June 30 can avoid a $60 late fee if they buy a new sticker within 30 days by July 30, officials said. But drivers without a valid sticker can be fined $200 a day until they get a new one in place.
The sales are set to take place:
• from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the 36th Ward Office, 6934 W. Diversey Ave.
• from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. June 21 at the Oriole Park field house, 5430 N. Olcott Ave.
• from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the 45th Ward Office, 4754 N. Milwaukee Ave.
• from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 16 at the 39th Ward Office, 4404 W. Lawrence Ave.
• from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24 at the 38th Ward Office, 3821 N. Harlem Ave.
Only drivers whose stickers expire at the end of June may purchase a new sticker at their ward office.
Those who wish to purchase a city sticker should bring their renewal reminder form or their vehicle state registration identification card.
The fee for a typical passenger car is $85.97. Those older than 65 can get one discounted sticker for $30.34. Prices are set to rise slightly July 1 to reflect the increase in the consumer price index, officials said.
Cash will not be accepted. Payments can be made by check, money order, or credit card.
