EDGEWATER — The furniture store sitting at the corner of Ridge Avenue and Clark Street in Edgewater is due to close in the coming weeks, according to employees and "Going Out of Business" signs posted across its front windows.

Chicago Furniture Co., also known as Chicago Furniture Liquidation Company, has sat at the busy intersection for more than 19 years, promising low mark-downs on a wide range of furniture.

According to the Better Business Bureau's website, the store opened in May 1997.

Since, an array of brightly colored couches, patterned chairs, lamps and end tables have made their presence known to commuters and pedestrians alike.

A man who identified himself as an employee Monday said the store had about one or two more weeks of being open.

In 2014, another longstanding Chicago furniture store closed in Wicker Park after 63 years in the neighborhood.

The store's owner could not be reached for comment.
